Editorial Policy
Our promise
Every major guide answers two questions: how does this work, and when should I walk away?
Sources
- HUD/FHA HECM program materials and mortgagee letters
- CFPB consumer complaint data and enforcement actions
- State statutes (e.g., Washington RCW 19.144 for reverse mortgage consumer protections)
- Independent research from NRMLA industry data where cited
Review process
Articles are drafted from primary sources, then reviewed by Calvin before publication. Pages note the review byline and publication date. HECM limits, rates, and program rules are verified at time of publish and updated when HUD announces changes.
What we will not publish
- "Free money" or "you cannot lose your home" claims
- Fear-based urgency or fake scarcity
- Uncited statistics presented as fact
- Content designed to pressure seniors into applying
Corrections
